Gerry is lead author for this book. Gerry’s best-selling books have sold half a million copies worldwide in many languages. He is a trainer and coach and speaker in communication skills – and a stand-up comedian. Gerry is a Huffington Post Blogger.
Gerry’s own business is Positive Comedy Training drawing on learning methods from the world of comedy and improvisation to help clients develop skills for work and life, specialising in speaking and presentation skills.
Gerry trained in facilitation at Roffey Park International Leadership Institute, where he is now a training consultant.
Gerry’s many high profile clients include financial services companies such as American Express, Lloyds TSB, JP Morgan bank, Legal and General and ACCA Global; digital and technical companies such as Brandwatch, Epic Learning Group, Datel Computing, and Nesta Innovation; plus a range of clients from other sectors that includes UK Environment Agency, Reuters International, Hilton Hotels, DAF Trucks, EDF Energy, and numerous others.
Gerry started professional life as a qualified architect, then made a career shift followed a life-changing backpacking journey through Iran, Afghanistan, Kashmir and the Himalaya mountains, and initiation by the Dalai Lama of Tibet.
Gerry’s work has featured widely on BBC and US TV and in print media such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Management Today and Business Traveller, as well as in online media.

Since 2001 David has developed a portfolio of activities which derive principally from 25 years experience in commercial and investment banking with HSBC and Deutsche Bank.
His consultancy activities embrace strategic planning and implementation, and mentoring existing and aspiring entrepreneurs. He is a recognised expert in his field, regularly speaking at conferences, and running seminars and workshops. He provides one-to-one and group mentoring to aspiring entrepreneurs, many of whom are aiming to establish themselves as consultants.
David published “From Crew to Captain” in 2010, written for people making the transition from working for big institutions to working for themselves. He has followed that up by launching “From Crew to Captain: A Privateer’s Tale” in 2014, which is written for people establishing consultancy practices.
David holds associate status at Cass Business School, within the executive education area. He has run workshops on managing strategic change, entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, leadership, building high performance teams, and sales. In addition he has acted as course director at Cass, and provided facilitation and mentoring support to participants in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
David is sole Director of David Mellor Mentoring Limited, a business mentoring service. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Azure Partners Limited (a business management consultancy) and Lysis Financial Limited (a risk/governance/compliance consultancy).
David holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees from the University of Cambridge, and is a member of the Institute of Directors.
